My sink and toilet are sitting in my bedroom. My bathroom floor is in chunks on my yard. There's a hole in the wall over the tub, covered in plastic and awaiting a window.

If you have ever been in my bathroom, you'll know why all this is so exciting to me. They're destroying the mildew and painting my walls! In fact, they are actually giving me real walls instead of slowly rotting plaster over 80 year old lathe.

For a cinematic conception of what my bathroom has looked like for the past 6 years, see here and just remove the chick and the sofa. When you have no vent, nothing ever dries. Especially in Florida. Especially in my house, because I am a man who likes a long, hot shower.

I'm gonna buy a towel bar, by gum! And when they finish the renovations, I'll post before and after pictures.

New bathroom fixtures are the tits.

Ours is in serious need of an upgrade. No mildew, well not a lot, but it's pretty old looking in there.

And I'm a man who likes a nice long hot shower too. That's where the thinking gets done. That's my excuse, at least. ;)

BE: I think I am keeping the actual sink, toilet, and tub, which is good - they are the old, enameled steel kind. Well, except the toilet. But all new floors and walls, plus a window. It's the window that's really making my day. I can't wait to shower and look outside at the same time.

Steph: Yay!

I love this...For 7 years I lived in an apartment that was the 2nd story a 100 yr old funeral home, and it was always falling apart. The bathroom flooded, the ceiling leaked til it caved in, it was bat infested, and heated with steam from the lumber mill down the street. The only saving grace was that the tub was big enough to swim in, and it must have had a water heater the size of a truck.
Enjoy!

Thanks! Yeah, it's got its issues, but I love where I live. The location can't be beat, and I dig how lived in it feels. But sometimes, when I wish I had a heater or the damp oozes from the walls...

Y''all should see me in my boxers in the rain hustling around the corner to the neighbor's apartment to take a 3 am pee. I hope my bathroom is done soon!

I can't wait for it to be done. It's driving me nuts not being able to get a hot shower.

They're still hacking away at it, but I have high hopes it'll be done by this weekend.
